SEC Teams
No. 25 Missouri just made No. 8 Florida "look fraudulent," a suspended Dylan Stewart watched Shane Beamer's job security crater in overtime, and Lane Kiffin is out here blaming the SEC schedule for his injury list. Happy Monday.
SEC Media Days ended Thursday. Lane Kiffin gave a 16-minute opening statement involving Hulk Hogan and mortality. Nick Saban told LSU fans to lower their expectations. Totally normal conference, everything is fine.
An ESPN analyst officially handed Lane Kiffin his Year 1 report card before he has coached a single snap, Tennessee dropped its Adidas Dark Mode uniforms today to universal Vol hysteria, and Florida announced the most expensive stadium renovation in college football history.
It's July 6, the dead of the offseason, and the SEC is already a circus: the SEC Network spent today airing Florida's upset of Texas on loop, Kiffin decommitted his way into a bad week, and Sark is still apologizing for basket weaving.
While the rest of the country was blowing things up with fireworks, SEC football was busy blowing up recruiting boards. Alabama just went from outside the top 40 nationally to a top-five class in roughly a month, Peyton Manning put on a new jersey, and LSU is already workshopping its first Kiffin-era excuses.
Texas A&M enters July as the nation's top recruiting class, a kid from Alexander City has Alabama, Florida, and Vanderbilt sweating his July 10 decision, and Steve Sarkisian still hasn't sent the basket-weaving apology card.
Steve Sarkisian would like you to know he is very sorry about the basket weaving thing, Alabama is quietly panicking about its recruiting class, and a teenager from Alexander City has the entire conference refreshing their phones until July 10.
Archie Manning took to Austin TV to defend Arch from the hype machine — the same hype machine that made Arch the Heisman favorite again this week. Also: Alabama is dead last in SEC recruiting and a Michigan man just broke Vol Twitter.
Joel Klatt went on a podcast and said the quiet part loud about Georgia's receiver room. UGA fans responded the way they always do. Meanwhile, Marcel Reed told the whole internet Texas A&M is winning the national title, and nobody stopped him.
It's late June in the SEC and nothing is settled: Alabama's QB drama drags into summer, Kiffin keeps the whole conference on its heels, and Florida is dropping $1.45 billion like that's a normal sentence.
Lane Kiffin ended his social media hiatus with a cryptic motivational post on June 20 — one day before Juneteenth — and college football Twitter promptly had a complete meltdown. Welcome to your Monday.
Georgia flipped a Penn State wide receiver on Monday and added a DL commit Tuesday morning, making this the third flip in roughly a week. Meanwhile, Lane Kiffin is still apologizing for that Vanity Fair interview and a decommitted prospect's father went full YouTube comments section.
In a span of two weeks, Lane Kiffin told Vanity Fair that Black families didn't want their kids moving to Mississippi and Steve Sarkisian said Ole Miss hands out degrees for basket weaving. Both apologized. Neither meant it. September 19 cannot get here fast enough.
Kirby Smart spent last week threatening to secede from the NCAA, Lane Kiffin spent this week apologizing for a Vanity Fair profile that was really just him saying the quiet part loud, and somehow recruiting season is happening simultaneously.
The SEC's spring meetings in Miramar Beach ended with no agreements, two apologies about Ole Miss, Kirby Smart threatening to break from the NCAA, and Stephen A. Smith defending Oxford, Mississippi on national television.
Lane Kiffin threw Ole Miss under the bus in Vanity Fair, Steve Sarkisian handed it the bus ticket, and Kirby Smart is already planning the secession of the entire conference from civilization. Normal May stuff.
