SEC Teams
The SEC spent this week publicly admitting its refs blew a drop-kick onside call that almost cost Texas the game, while Lane Kiffin blamed a nine-game schedule for injuries sustained in... two conference games. It's only October.
Texas barely survived Neyland behind a DE who literally pretended to urinate on the field. Meanwhile Marcel Reed got doxxed, then got smoked in Death Valley. Lane Kiffin collected his first SEC W and a federal court motion simultaneously.
Lane Kiffin walked back into Oxford and immediately lost. Texas A&M dropped a 16.5-point home game to unranked Kentucky. Oklahoma survived New Mexico 14-6 while its own student section chanted 'Fire Arbuckle.' Week 3 delivered everything.
SEC Media Days 2026 arrived in Tampa and immediately went feral. Pete Golding weaponized Lane Kiffin against Lane Kiffin — at Kiffin's own press week. It only got weirder from there.
SEC Media Days opened this morning in Tampa — the first time Florida has hosted this beautiful disaster — and the conference descended on the JW Marriott with three years of title drought, six new head coaches, and Lane Kiffin lurking at the end of the week like a final boss.
The SEC offseason has officially entered its most deranged phase: coaches insulting each other's universities, a Vanity Fair profile somehow making things worse, and Tennessee unveiling Summitt Blue uniforms today while Media Days looms 12 days out.
The 2026 NFL Draft just wrapped with the SEC setting an 87-pick record, Garrett Nussmeier sliding to pick 249, and Lane Kiffin still out here promising national championships to a fanbase Urban Meyer called 'nuts.' Welcome to July.
It's July 6, the dead of the offseason, and the SEC is already a circus: the SEC Network spent today airing Florida's upset of Texas on loop, Kiffin decommitted his way into a bad week, and Sark is still apologizing for basket weaving.
While normal people were watching fireworks and ignoring their families, the SEC spent the Fourth of July doing what it does best: spending obscene amounts of money on teenagers and saying unhinged things on the internet.
Steve Sarkisian got away with the basket-weaving comment scot-free, Lane Kiffin has already nuked his old employer on his way out the door, and somehow the SEC just shrugged and said "carry on." Ole Miss can't catch a break in the press or the recruiting rankings — and Media Days is still three weeks away.
Two SEC coaches decided the offseason needed more chaos by taking turns publicly humiliating Ole Miss — one over academics, one over diversity — and now the whole conference gets to live in the wreckage until October.
Texas A&M enters July as the nation's top recruiting class, a kid from Alexander City has Alabama, Florida, and Vanderbilt sweating his July 10 decision, and Steve Sarkisian still hasn't sent the basket-weaving apology card.
Joel Klatt went on a podcast and said the quiet part loud about Georgia's receiver room. UGA fans responded the way they always do. Meanwhile, Marcel Reed told the whole internet Texas A&M is winning the national title, and nobody stopped him.
It is the final official visit weekend before the dead period, Lane Kiffin has added eight commitments in June alone, and he already promised LSU fans a national championship on a podcast. Nobody is sleeping.
Lane Kiffin lost a five-star, gained two replacements, hired a legend, and is somehow already promising national championships — and it's not even July. Also: Kentucky landed a top QB and the playoff expansion saga remains the sport's most boring soap opera.
Lane Kiffin and Steve Sarkisian spent the week dunking on Ole Miss at SEC spring meetings, a Texas judge handed the NCAA its soul on a platter, and Texas A&M gave Lionel Messi an autographed jersey he will never look at again. Normal June stuff.
Steve Sarkisian called Ole Miss an academic pushover, Lane Kiffin blamed their recruiting struggles on racial history, and Kirby Smart threatened to leave the NCAA. Archie Manning has had to enter the chat.
In a single week the SEC managed to drag one program's academics, question another program's diversity, threaten to form a breakaway republic, and ask for a 40-team playoff. Totally normal offseason stuff.
Chaz Coleman is back in Knoxville — maybe — and his future with Tennessee 'remains a mystery.' Lane Kiffin is sorry, kind of. And SEC coaches just spent a week at a beach resort failing to agree on literally anything.
Lane Kiffin used a four-hour Vanity Fair sit-down to roast his old program, Steve Sarkisian piled on with an academic diss, and Pete Golding just said 'come visit.' Meanwhile, Arkansas is filing formal complaints about TV contracts and Kirby wants out of the NCAA entirely.
